Broker Compensation

Thank you for your business. As your independent Insurance Broker, we shop the insurance marketplace and purchase the appropriate insurance products and services on your behalf that are available, affordable and understandable.

Our role is to provide you with the best insurance value that combines coverage, service, and price. We also provide personalized, quality service that includes professional insurance advice, such as performing risk assessment by analyzing all possible risk exposures on your behalf, thereby minimizing your risk of loss. In addition we provide you with ongoing policy maintenance such as amending your insurance coverage, and claims support. When any issue arises regarding your insurance coverage, we are your advocate using our professional experience to best represent your individual interest.

Brokerage compensation is part of your insurance premium. Pearson Dunn is paid a commission or fee for our services to you. Commissions are paid to Pearson Dunn by insurance companies for placing individual accounts. Fees are paid to Pearson Dunn by clients, in lieu of commission. Listed below are the Insurance Companies we represent and the range of compensation each provides as a percentage of your overall premium.

Should there be a change in the commission schedule we received from your insurer, or, any other material change that affects compensation arrangements, we will update this disclosure accordingly.

Pearson Dunn maintains strong relationships with quality insurers to best serve our clients. The insurers with an asterisk(*) noted above recognize our efforts through a Contingent (Profit) Commission contract. Payment of this Contingent (Profit) Commission may depend on a combination of growth, profitability, loss ratio, volume, retention and services that we provide on behalf of the Insurer. A portion of long-term debt is secured through facilities with the Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company and Pilot Insurance Company. These credit facilities have been utilized to grow and expand our business in the best interests of our clients, staff and insurers.
